Guelph’s Hillside Festival 2008 Lineup Announced

As sure as the mercury has started to rise in this province so too has the frequency of music festival announcements. One of my favourites, Guelph’s Hillside Festival will take place on the weekend of July 25 through 27 and the first batch of acts that will be performing has just been announced. Those heading to the Guelph Lake Conservation Area (on an island) include The Sadies, Harry Manx, Hawksley Workman, Plants and Animals, Hayden and Cowboy Junkies. Not to mention lots of yummy food and a myriad of interesting workshops. Early bird tickets go on sale May 3 at 10AM and you are well advised to get your tickets as soon as you are able. This one is popular, a whole lot of fun, and will most surely sell out. I assure you, music under the sun and stars in this most pristine setting will be the musical highlight of your summer. Twenty five years in now, this one will be hard to beat.

Hillside Festival sounds great. I'm a huge fan of folk festivals and and volunteer in the record tent at ours, which is the best gig a person could possibly have.

Hawksley Workman is always great at a festival, I'll be interested to see who else gets booked. At ours we have one performer leaked each week until mid May when the whole lineup is announced. So far I'm excited about Great Lake Swimmers, the Be Good Tanyas, Sam Roberts, Charlie Musselwhite, and Josh Ritter.

You're right Barbara the Hillside Festival is so very great. Memories of Neko Case performing several years back are fleeting now. I wish she would come back.

You're right too, volunteering in the record tent is the best gig in town. The lineup at your festival looks terrific so far. I'm hoping for big things from London's own Home County Folk Festival and Sun Fest- I'll certainly keep you informed.
